My druggie boyfriend of seven years dumped me by text — now I feel so alone

DEAR DEIDRE: After seven years, my boyfriend has dumped me – by text.

He always liked to party and every two weeks or so he’d take so much drugs he would ended up vomiting everywhere.

Afterwards, he wouldn’t get out of bed.

He’d go back to his caravan instead and I’d not see him for a couple of days.

Then he would come back to my flat as if nothing had happened.

He is 48 and I’m 46. He hardly ever took me anywhere and used to joke to his friends that he spoiled me with a trip to the tip.

We only went out on Sundays for a roast and I’d pay for both of us.

But now he has gone, I’m so alone.

This lockdown feels like I’m serving time.

DEIDRE SAYS: He did not know how to treat you as you deserve because he has an addiction which he puts first.

Your ex wouldn’t face up to his substance abuse, so the best thing he could do for you was leave.

My support pack Drug Worries? will help you understand why he made himself emotionally unavailable in this way.
