Mum discovers an ‘amazing’ Happy Meal hack to turn the meal box into a plate: ‘I had no idea’

Mum and British organisation queen Mrs Hinch has discovered a ‘life-changing’ McDonald’s Happy Meal hack.
The mum-of-two, Sophie Hinchliffe, realised a Happy Meal box can transform into the perfect plate for her children to eat their meal without any mess.
‘I can promise you now, this has changed my life forever,’ Sophie said when she discovered the hack.

She discovered a Happy Meal box can transform into a plate for her children to eat their meal without mess. She pulled a segregated line of cardboard 3/4 of the way down the Happy Meal box to remove the top of the box (left). She was then left with a the bottom of the box to use as a plate (right)
‘Yep I was today years old when I realised you could do this, what have I been doing all my life? I have no idea,’ she wrote on Instagram.
The mum learned she could pull a line of cardboard 3/4 of the way down the Happy Meal box to remove the top of the box.
She was then left with the bottom of the box to use as a plate. The edges of the box were still attached, preventing food from falling out.
The box hack eliminates the need for washing up, and makes the meal easier to eat on the go.

‘WHHHAATTT! Please tell me I’m not alone here? Did anyone else not know this?’ she asked.
Sophie said she wondered why she is always ‘late to the party’ with life hacks.
However, many other mums reassured her that they had never heard of the hack either.
‘Wow. McDonald’s is [my sons] staple diet and I did not know that. He will be well impressed when I pull that one out the bag later,’ one woman said.
How to make McDonald’s Happy Meal box into a plate:
1. Pull the line of cardboard 3/4 of the way down the Happy Meal box to remove the top of the box.
2. Use the bottom of the box as a plate. The edges of the box will still be attached, preventing food from falling out.
3. Give kids the top half of the box to use as a hat.

‘Mind has blown with this!! Wtf! I live under a rock or else I’m just old,’ another wrote.
‘I also did not know this,’ another said.
However, several had already discovered the trick.
‘Oh my god how did you not know this?’ one mum asked.
Another advised Sophie to give her kids the top half of the box to use as a hat.
‘My two always use the top bit as a hat,’ she explained.
