MIC’s Maeva D’Ascanio and James Taylor’s gender reveal as they prepare to be parents

Made in Chelseastars James Taylor andMaeva D'Ascanioare gearing up for the next stage in their relationship.

James, 26, and Maeva, 30, recentlygot engaged during a romantic trip to Romeand if that wasn’t enough, the couple are also expecting their first child.

On the most recent episode of the hit E4 show, the pair finally revealed the gender of their future baby in a rather unique way.

While many opt for coloured confetti to reveal the gender of their baby, or some don’t want to know at all,James and Maeva had the gender of their little one hidden in a cake.

The pair enjoyed a romantic lunch with just the two of them and at the end of it they cut into a specially designed cake.

While Maeva could hardly look and counted to three before opening her eyes, James exclaimed in delight: “It's blue, isn’t it? It’s blue!”.

The cake was indeed blue and the pair were overjoyed to find out they were having a baby boy.

However, Maeva did take time to ask James if he was “sure” he was happy and he quickly quashed her worries away by showing his excitement for the new chapter in the pair’s life.

James opened up to OK! about how "special" it feels to be having a child with his fiancée as he said: "A month in, I turned around to her and was like, 'I feel even more connected to you,' and she feels the same. I don’t think you can do anything more together than create a life."

"It’s part of both of you and is the best thing I can humanly imagine right now that you can do with someone you love. I didn’t realise I could love her more. She’s carrying our child – that’s so special," the dad-to-be gushed.

He did admit that it took him around two weeks to digest the news as the pregnancy "definitely was not planned" and he went into "proper shock".

Meanwhile the happy couple are also planning their wedding for the end of next year.

They spoke to OK! about what this could look like and James said: "We have a venue. We went to view a place in England," he shared.

"It’s going to be December next year."

He added that they have decided to tie the knot next year once their first child has arrived.

"Maeva puts a lot of importance on her body and the way she feels. She doesn’t want any baby weight on her and we want the baby at the wedding," he continued.

"It’ll be an English winter wedding, with friends, family and people from the show."

We then asked whether they will let the cameras film their big day, and James said: "I don’t see why not.

"I know Ollie and Gareth [Locke] did it and it looked beautiful. So I think we’re swinging towards saying yes."
