DEAR DEIDRE: MY lazy landlord has increased my rent but won’t fix anything.

I’m 72 and have lived in the flat for eight years.

I worry he thinks I’m a soft touch because I’m a lot older than his other tenants.

For the past two years I’ve had to bathe in cold, slow-running water because the shower doesn’t work properly.

And recently I’ve noticed mould growing on the walls.

I think it’s affecting my breathing.

I’ve written to my landlord countless times but he just ignores me or tells me to fix it myself. It’s making me really stressed.

Cold showers are not pleasant and mould can be dangerous to your health.

This needs to be dealt with urgently.
