Online searches for Christmas goods are reported to already be up 105%, with the top searches being Christmas trees, lights and wreaths.

So as the nation begins to seek out the best Christmas offerings, John Lewis were keen to get their shop open as soon as they could.

While the majority of decorations are on sale now, the remainder of the range will go on sale at the end of September.

“Small and intimate was the order for 2020, and there was no lack of wonder as our customers ensured it would be a magical day whatever their circumstance."

"But, with changes afoot we know many will be hoping to have a full house filled with familiar faces and enjoy the Christmas traditions we may have missed out on last year,' says Jason Billings-Cray, John Lewis’ resident Christmas Buyer.

“We expect that our customers will be embracing some of the community spirit of last year by decorating their doorsteps to provide fun for the family and the neighbours.”

John Lewis will also be opening up bigger and better Christmas emporiums across the country where shoppers can enjoy a family day out full of festive cheer.

“We will be going bigger and better in our shops this year, not only will we be offering our full Christmas ranges nationwide, but in select shops, we will be introducing Christmas Emporiums.

"The Emporiums will offer personalised gifting experiences, festive workshops and fun family activities for a great day out,” the retailer explained.
