I’m A Celebrity 2020 stars reveal jobs they did before fame, from banana factory worker to receptionist

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is now very much under way, with steamy shower scenes, saucy secrets and… yes, snakes!

And while gathered together in camp, the famous faces on the 2020 series whiled away the hours in the cold trappings of Gwrych Castle by discussing their former professions, and there are some interesting jobs in the mix!

Chatting about the jobs they’d done before finding fame, Vernon Kay, 46, started things off.

He told his campmates he’d once worked in a banana factory, saying: “I worked in a banana factory sticking stickers on bananas in Bolton, a banana ripening factory. I did it until I was 22 before I moved to London. I did it every summer.”

Jumping in to make their admissions were the other famous faces gathered together in the circle.

Podcast star Giovanna Fletcher, whose impressive net worth was recently revealed, shared a story about a time she worked at an off-license, while EastEnders’ Jessica Plummer told of how she quit her job at a jewellery store after one day due to boredom.

Beverley Callard might be best known for her role as Liz McDonald in Corrie, but before becoming a household name on the soap the actress worked as a receptionist for a hypnotist.

She told the camp: “I was his receptionist, he was a hypnotherapist. He was really, really good.

“He used to obviously stop people smoking but not me. I used to stand on the loo and blow my smoke out the window.”

EastEnders actress Jessica may well have worked in a jewellery store before hitting up the famed soap, but she also had another noteworthy job beforehand.

Jessica actually cut her teeth in the entertainment industry as a singer for a band named Neon Jungle.

The four-piece girl band consisted of Shereen Cutkelvin, Amira McCarthy and Asami Zdrenka, and they had top ten chart positions for their singles and album. Go girls!

The band also performed alongside super star Taylor Swift at the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

As well as EastEnders, Jessica has also starred in British science fantasy series Wizards vs Aliens, but perhaps most impressively she acted alongside Nicole Kidman and Matt Lucas in 2017 hit film How to Talk to Girls at Parties.
