I haven't spoken to my mum for more than a week over a row about how much debt she's in

I live at home and she doesn’t think I pay her enough for rent and bills.

She blames me and my sister for her financial issues, which is unfair as she has been in debt all her life.

Mum is 45. She is a single parent and believes we have put her in this situation.

I am a 22-year-old guy. Living with her can be quite stressful. Mum only seems to be happy if I am giving her most of my wages.

Is it time for me to move out or just put up with it?

DEIDRE SAYS: Your mum is under a lot of stress. Break the deadlock by suggesting you, your mum and sister have a meeting to sort this out once and for all.

My e-leaflet Family Finances explains how to calculate fair contributions from everyone.
If you can’t agree, maybe it is time to fly the nest.
