1. We tried: Snag Chub Rub Shorts
- Snag Chub Rub Shorts, from £7.99 – buy here
Insta-famous Snag hail from Scotland, and have perfected the trusty anti-chafing shorts that look great, and don't cost the earth.
The fabric of their Chub Rub shorts are super soft, and don't cling to your legs or feel too tight on the thigh or waist.
All of their shorts are moisture-wicking, with cotton gussets, so will keep you feeling fresh and cool all day long.
We tried their gorgeous leopard-print Stay Cool Chub Rub Shorts in Purr, and could not stop showing them off! They hit the nail on the head with the sizing, and even on the hottest day we still felt cool – and not humid at all.
They came up quite high, without being restrictive like shapewear, so they gave us a great silhouette and we could wear them confidently everyday with skirts or dresses.
The colour range is varied, with a really inclusive, impressive range of sizes that goes from a UK 4 to 36. Snag really have got it in the bag this summer.
2. We tried: Sundried Legacy Women's Running Shorts
- Sundried Legacy Women's Running Shorts, £21 from Amazon – buy here
Sundried is an activewear brand with a difference, creating great running and casual wear shorts from recycled materials.
They have taken on the classic running shorts and made them eco-friendly, as well as stylish and casual enough to wear for completely chafe-free walking – even on hotter days.
We tried ours for both jogging and walking, and they were ideal – as well as being being anti-chafing. They didn't dig in or fall down, and the stretchy waistband, alongside subtle anti-chafe base layer, made us feel more comfortable wearing them.
For less than £30 from Amazon, they're a great pair of anti-chafe shorts from an eco-forward brand.
3. Best anti-chafe shorts on a budget: ASOS DESIGN Shorter Legging Short

Marks and Spencer, the high-street fashion giant, have turned their hands to making a fantastic pair of breathable anti-chafe shorts – at a great price, too.

6. We tried: Kit Change FIT Shorts
- Kit Change FIT Shorts, £40 – buy here
Boasting each pair of anti-chafe shorts being made out of 10 recycled plastic bottles, Kit Change have the environment at the forefront of their minds.
These shorts are super soft recycled polyester, sweat-wicking and breathable and are available in black up to size XXL.
The high elastane content in the shorts mean they're designed to stretch and contort with your body, without causing any skin irritation.
We tried them out under an over-sized tee for walking, spinning and rock climbing, but these would be great for casual wear too – so they're not just exercising.
We found they were so stretchy, and didn't hold us back or feel like they were nipping in uncomfortably at the waist. They felt tight though, but we saw it as extra security, with the same effects as shapewear.
7. We tried: CEP Run 2-in-1 Shorts
- CEP Run 2-in-1 Shorts 3.0, £105.95 from Alpine Trek – buy here
Now, these are more like anti-chafing running shorts – but they're ideal for walking, hiking or trekking too on your next break
They're made with a medi-compression fabric, that feels tight initially but supplies muscles with the optimum amount of oxygen, to held you exercise better, and recover faster.
We tried them, and at first hated how tight they felt – but after a slow jog, we started to get comfortable, and felt more confident wearing them.
Running shorts can often feel very short and encourage chub-rub, but these were ideal – they didn't pinch in either, and they looked great on, too.
They're a major step up price wise being the priciest on this list, but they're a good investment if you're keen on active adventure holidays.
