Thrive Causemetics Gives History-Making $25 Million Beauty Donation to Women in Need

Thrive Causemetics wants to deliver the power of beauty to every single woman.

The Los Angeles-based, female-owned beauty brand was first founded by CEO Karissa Bodner as a way to provide clean, vegan, 100 percent cruelty-free makeup to women while also giving back to the community. Through Thrive’s moving Beauty With a Purpose initiative, for each product a customer (known as the #ThriveTribe) buys, the brand pledges to give another Thrive product (or a monetary donation) to women in need through its dozens of partner organizations.

“From day one, giving has been a part of Thrive’s DNA. When we first started, this meant matching every purchase with a product donation. As we gave more, our relationships with our incredible partners grew,” Thrive explains on its website. “They told us how our giving could make a major impact on women’s lives, even if our donations didn’t always come in the form of a product. Now, we practice responsive giving to support a wide range of partners [that help] women fighting cancer, emerging from homelessness, and surviving domestic violence.”

Now, as the company celebrates its fourth year in business, Thrive is making its biggest donation yet.

As part of its anniversary celebration, the cosmetics company announced a $25 million product donation — the largest in its history.

“Everyone who purchases a product becomes part of our mission to give back—and after four years of building a compassionate community, we are setting a precedent for beauty companies that give back,” Bodnar said. “We are proud to partner with incredible organizations across the country to bring the power of beauty to every woman, no matter what challenges they face.”

Thrive’s gift will be donated to over 50 non-profit organizations, including Steps to End Domestic Violence (which fights for a violence-free world), Tenaciously Teal (which provides resources to the cancer community) and Mary’s Place (a refuge for those experiencing homelessness). Customers can nominate other charities close to their hearts to participate too.

The Executive Director of Mary’s Place, Marty Hartman, couldn’t be more grateful for Thrive’s partnership. “Women experiencing homelessness often feel invisible and worthless,” he said. “We’re grateful to Thrive for bringing hope and for helping our women regain their self-confidence and thrive!”
