Nike SB‘s SB Dunk Low is saluting the legendary atmos x Nike Air Max 1 “Elephant” with an “Elephant” makeup of its own. A homage rather than a collaboration — atmos is not directly involved with this SB Dunk — the instantly familiar style is equal parts Nike Sportswear and skate, making for a compelling, detail-rich nod to a classic.
To achieve the signature “Elephant” look, uppers mix three materials: white leather on the toebox, black nubuck on the quarter panels and collar and signature elephant print on the mudguard plus the heel counters and tabs. Of course, this trifecta of tones is embellished with teal on the Swooshes, puffy tongue’s tag and heel’s Nike spellout graphic. Combining with the aforementioned elephant print pieces, this teal shade is meant to represent a bathing elephant spewing water from its trunk. White midsoles equipped with Zoom Air heel cushioning and black outsoles complete the look.
The Nike SB Dunk Low “Elephant” has been reported for a November 11 release date, though that has yet to be confirmed by the Swoosh. As is par for the course with many Orange Label SB Dunk releases, it may well roll out to skateshops over the course of the month instead of using a hard street date. Info on a potential Nike SNKRS drop is forthcoming as well.
