Mum shares the dream garden her hubby created using reclaimed packing crates – and it didn’t cost him a penny – The Sun

A MUM has shared her “little corner of paradise” after her husband created an entire patio set out of old wooden crates.

Taking to the Facebook group Extreme Budget DIY & Life Hacks, run by money saving mum Holly Smith, she shared snaps of her man’s handiwork.

The photos show the couple’s patio set, made up of loungers, planters and a matching table, all made out of packing pallets.

And the proud wife revealed that the materials didn’t cost them a penny.

Captioning her post she wrote: “My amazing hubby made all this using free pallets. It’s our little corner of paradise.”

She said that they had placed fake grass over an “ugly” concrete slab, before filling the planters with various flowers including lupins and adding ornamental flamingos to the area to create a tropical feel.

And her post has received hundreds of likes and comments from fellow group members who even cheekily asked if her husband was available to hire.

One said: “He’s done an amazing job. Love the design of the chair.”

Another added: “He did a great job, and cost virtually nothing. Love to see people recycle.”

“Do you rent him out???” commented a third.

And this is not the first money-saving makeover we have seen this summer with a talented mum revealing how she crafted her own outdoor bar last week.

Taking to the Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Nikki Smith shared snaps of her handiwork.

Using old packing crates she had crafted an outdoor bar for her garden as well as two corner seats, using kitsch cushions to brighten them up.

Nikki then painted old tyres with fence paint and used them for everything from planters to outdoor stools, all following her blue, pink and white colour scheme.

Captioning her snaps she wrote:  “Love using free old pallets and old tyres to make things.

"Have used them as a decking base, to make a bar for my garden and for a pallet garden sofa and old tyres for seats and planters.

“I’m not a business and don’t sell anything I make, it’s just a hobby as I love upcycling.

“If it gives anyone any ideas that makes me happy- you don’t need a lot of money and if you can upcycle it’s even more of a bargain.”

In other bargain news, Home Bargains has restocked Mrs Hinch's favourite Minky cleaning cloths for just £2.49.

And a mum revealed how she used tea tree oil to remove pen stains from her sofa.
