Influencers Nikki & Dan Phillippi spark fury after cancelling adoption as the baby ‘can’t appear on YouTube for a year’

AN INFLUENCER couple have been slammed for cancelling their adoption as their baby “can’t appear on YouTube for a year.”

A video has resurfaced of Nikki and Dan Phillippi updating their followers on their adoption process.

In the clip, which was uploaded in 2018 but has been recently shared on Reddit, Californian Nikki said that they were intending to adopt a child from Thailand.

However, she revealed plans were put on hold after she and Dan were told the country has “unique laws” regarding babies adopted from there.

Nikki said: "After you pick up your child, they are your child but you are not allowed to talk about them or share any images, photos, videos, anything about them online for a year.”

Dan added: "I mean Nikki's got a YouTube channel and we share a whole lot.”

Nikki, who now has a one-year-old son called Logan with Dan, continued: "When that hit we literally were like 'Oh what?'

"So we were like going round the houses like trying to figure out how this could work like 'Hashtag baby blur face'.

"What are we gonna do? Dan's like, 'Maybe we could deal with that for a year?'

"We're like alright, let's pray about it, let's sleep on it and then let's see how we feel in the morning.”

Dan said: "It's not just a rule that Thailand has like, 'Oh you can't share anything or talk about your kid for a year. '

“It's that the adoption is not finalised until a year later.

"So you know, the kid's gonna be living in our house for a year and it's not about all time not our kid so yeah we're not okay with that either."

Nikki said she discussed the entire process with her close pals and her “logical” assistant Melissa and they decided that adopting from Thailand wasn’t for them.

The YouTube couple had told their followers in 2018 that they were starting the process, but uploaded their video entitled “We're not adopting from Thailand anymore” just two months later.

Later, in September 2018, the couple announced they were going to adopt from Korea instead.

However, they later went back on this too as an agency informed them they would not easily get approved given their social media presence.

Nikki’s YouTube has 1.28million subscribers and has racked up over 141 million views.

This month, Nikki was also criticised after revealing on May 3 that the family dog had been euthanised.

"Bowser had an aggressive side that reared its ugly head a few times over the years," she wrote on Instagram.

"After a lot of counsel, we decided it was time for Bowser to pass peacefully on."

Nikki and her husband Dan said that Bowser, a bull terrier, had been involved in several disturbing incidents, including one that involved their son.

Critics flooded the comments section of Phillippi's Instagram post.

"Some dogs can't live with kids but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to live," one person wrote, according to Insider.
