I’m 19-years-old and I live in a bus with my husband – it's so much cheaper than renting, we've saved so much money | The Sun

WITH mortgage rates rising and the cost of living crisis putting a huge strain on many people, for first-time buyers, the thought of ever being able to own a home may be seeming pretty bleak right now.

But one couple has proved that life doesn’t only have to involve moving out and paying a mortgage or renting a property.

One married couple, known on social media as ‘OlaTheBus’, decided to ditch the idea of renting a property and instead live in a school bus full-time.

By doing this, Tate, 19, and her husband, Ben, 20, have managed to keep their cost of living extremely low.

In one TikTok video, Tate revealed that living in their school bus has saved them lots of money on rent and not only this, but it gives them more freedom to travel.

She said: “Our entire bus renovation, including the bus, is cheaper than one year’s worth of rent in Southern California for a one-bedroom apartment.

“Not even with a beach view or anything and so, yeah, we live in a school bus, but we can wake up every day by the beach if we want.

“And we own the bus, so for an apartment, you are paying all of this money that at the end of the year, it goes nowhere, you still don't even own the apartment.

“We own our bus, I could sell it, I could do whatever the heck I want to it”.

Tate has shared details of how they live so cheaply to Instagram and confirmed that the school bus cost the couple $5,000 [£4,431] and the renovation was $15,000 [13,295].
