I went to a 49,000 sq ft Primark – I was shell-shocked by the versatility, it rivals Target and I bought 5 items for $30 | The Sun

INTERNATIONAL retailer Primark has expanded into the United States with several new locations in the New York metro area.

I decided to check out a location in Downtown Brooklyn that opened in December 2022 to see if I got bang for my buck.

Primark is a leading retailer specializing in the sale of clothing, accessories, and footwear.

The company was started in Dublin, Ireland, in 1969 by the Weston family and has since expanded into other countries.

City Point is the brand's 416th store and the 16th store in the United States. They plan to have 60 by the end of 2026.

As a Brooklyn resident, I decided to pop into the newest addition to the franchise at Primark City Point, located downtown.

To make the stakes a bit higher, I challenged myself to see how many items I could buy in a $30 shopping haul to see what it had to offer.

The core purpose of the brand is affordability: from great quality essentials to stand-out style.

The store has women’s, men’s, and children’s fashion, as well as lingerie, beauty, and homeware at the best prices.

The building had three floors and it took me two hours to completely get through the 49,000 square feet of retail space.

It really was a one-stop shop.

From beauty products to jewelry to chic summer dresses to Disney merchandise, I felt like anything I needed could be found in the store.

The first floor contained womenswear, from business attire to casual dresses to tanks and bottoms with a few accessories tossed around to grab customers' attention.

I knew that was where I would find all of my closet staples right off the bat.

The second floor was where I was shell-shocked by the versatility.

One corner of the room contained cartoon-themed clothing, another contained lingerie and intimate items, and another contained Primark brand beauty products.

I spent the most time on this floor because I didn't realize how much I wanted to stock up on makeup and gift-worthy items.

Nonetheless, I had to pull myself away and remind myself of my $30 budget.

The third floor was where I flourished, and by that point, my feet were on fire.

Imagine your favorite department store and then double its size.

It was as if the first two floors combined and then decided to fill additional space with miscellaneous items that people wouldn't think about but probably did want.

I almost found myself purchasing a pair of high-quality knock-off Crocs and a little black backpack because I needed a new gym bag.

I can see Primark becoming the new Target because I came in with one idea of what I wanted and that increasingly shifted the longer I spent inside.

The store exceeded my expectations because I was expecting to find low-quality and not-so-stylish pieces.

That was not the case.

I recently lost a $100 Zara leather jacket and found a great dupe that was of similar quality for $37.

With spring fast approaching, I am in the mood for new tennis shoes and found chic white sneakers for $18 with diamond details.

It was tough to narrow down all of my items to $30 because I picked up some essential items that I know I’ll definitely make use of.

In the end, I spent $30.66 and walked out with five items that I’ll be sure to make use of.

I bought black sunglasses for $3.50, diamond hoops for $5.50, makeup sponges for $1.50, a black fitness tank top for $6, a black baseball hat with a G letter for $5.00, and mink eyelashes, for $7.

I do wish I purchased the press-on nails and grabbed a few oversized sweatshirts priced at $8 each.
