Audemars Piguet's Openworked Royal Oak Gets a Blacked-Out Ceramic Makeover

Swiss luxury watchmaker Audemars Piguet is now offering its openworked Royal Oak in a sleek black ceramic make, perfect for the more enigmatic out there.

Measuring its usual 41mm sizing, the new Royal Oak’s case is completely constructed out of black ceramic, matching the same material and tone with its integrated bracelet. An openworked dial allows you to admire the workings of the in-house selfwinding Manufacture Calibre 3132, which carries the luxury watchmaker’s patented pink gold double balance wheel technology, improving both the timepiece’s precision and stability. The pink gold extends to the applied hour-markers and luminescent hands as well as the 22-carat oscillating weight right beneath the caseback, which itself features the engraving “Royal Oak Double Balancier” as a nod to the complex mechanism within.

For those interested, the black ceramic Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked will be exclusive to Audemars Piguets’ boutiques starting in December.
