Finding love during a pandemic isn’t exactly the easiest of tasks, but former talk show host Ricki Lake did, and even got engaged in the process (via People). Speaking to Good Morning America in early February, Lake described when she met her fiancé, Ross Burningham, for the first time in 2020, as kismet. She recalled, “… He is amazing. I met him, I was on a COVID walk, I ran into an acquaintance. He said ‘Are you single?’ I said, ‘Yes’ and I am so happy.”
Burningham is a lawyer from California, a partner at Gunderson Dettmer (via Business Wire) working between the law firm’s San Diego and LA offices. He focuses his work “on the representation of public technology and life sciences companies,” as well as having expertise in counselling “startup and emerging growth companies” and representing “leading venture capital firms, growth equity investors, and seed funds” (via Gunderson Dettmer).
Ricki Lake announced her relationship with Ross Burningham in early December
Ricki Lake initially introduced Ross Burningham on her Instagram in early December, sharing a candid selfie of the two with the caption “LOVE.” Since then, her feed has blossomed into a romantic timeline of the couple, including the exciting announcement of their engagement on Feb. 21. “Friends, I’m so so so excited to share some good news! I’m engaged! This is Ross. He is my person. He is wonderful,” Lake captioned the post. “I love him very much and I am so grateful I get to love and be loved so deeply by this stellar human. Our next chapter is sure to be a good one.”
After a year together, the former Dancing with the Stars contestant revealed to People that they are “filled with gratitude and joy for what is to come.” Adding, “Ross and I literally pinch ourselves that we have found each other at this time in our lives. Both of us, newly empty-nesters, we feel as if we are kids again.”
