Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Vincent Jackson Passes Away at 38

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Vincent Jackson has been found dead at the young age of 38 at a hotel room in Brandon, Florida.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office confirmed his death. He had reportedly checked into the hotel room on January 11, and his family had reported him missing on February 10. Police located him alive at the hotel and closed the case.

On Monday (February 15), he was found dead by a housekeeper in the hotel room. No cause of death has been released at this time.

Sheriff Chad Chronister released the following statement, “My heart aches for the many loved ones Vincent Jackson leaves behind, from his wife [Lindsey VanDeweghe] and children to the Buccaneers nation that adored him. Mr. Jackson was a devoted man who put his family and community above everything else. Football aside, he touched countless lives through his Jackson In Action 83 Foundation. We shared a passion for supporting military families, and three years ago, Jackson was even made an honorary deputy by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office to recognize his dedication to the community. He will be sorely missed by not only football fans across the country, but also the people here in Hillsborough County who reaped the benefits of his generous contributions.”

He was a star in the league for a few years and had made the pro bowl twice with the Chargers in 2009 and 2011 and once with the Buccaneers in 2012. He retired in 2018.

An investigation has been launched into the cause of his death. This tragedy comes just a few days after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl.

Our thoughts are with Vincent‘s loved ones during this time.
