Strictly Come Dancing professional dancing star Giovanni Pernice has revealed that he has twisted his ankle while on tour and will miss a few group dances in the upcoming series of the show.
While on tour with Anton Du Beke, Giovanni was performing and twisted his ankle during a dance.
In an Instagram video to keep his fans updated, he said he had just got back from the doctors where they told him to rest up for a few weeks.
So, not only will the Italian miss dances during the last week of his current tour, but he is also set to miss some of the group numbers in the upcoming series of the hit BBC show Strictly Come Dancing.
In the video on his Instagram, Giovanni said: "As you probably know I’m on tour at the moment with Anton and doing one of the dances I did twist my ankle on stage.
"I have just been to the doctor, to the physio, and he advised me to rest for a few weeks, which means I’m not going to be able to dance at the weekend.
"I know a few people are coming. I will still be there to entertain you with my other half Anton Du Beke. We will be singing along but unfortunately Anton will do the dancing bit."
Giovanni, 32, added that his injury will also impact his appearances on the upcoming series of Strictly as he said: "This also means that I am going to miss a few of the Strictly professional group numbers, but I just need to give some rest to my ankle and come back stronger than ever for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing – which I’m really looking forward to.
"Sending lots of love to everyone out there and stay strong."
In response to his news, many fans of Giovanni flocked to the comments to share their thoughts and support the dancer through his recovery.
One person said: "Don’t skip any advise that you have been given as you need your ankle to be back as strong as ever good vibes coming your way Gio."
While another stated: "Ah that’s sad, I saw you last night in London, show was amazing , I must admit I did think at times you looked in a bit of pain, you still done an amazing show.
"Get some TLC and some well deserved rest. That’s the best medicine. Good luck Giovanni."
A third penned: "Always best to do what the doctor orders! Take care and hope you heal quickly."
