The flame-haired star was pictured in a baggy blue tracksuit suit while filming in Mexico where she is making a gritty new BBC Three series about bounty hunters. Confirmation of a romance between Stacey, 32, and her three-times married Strictly partner Kevin Clifton, 36, came to light on Sunday. Her split with ex love Sam Tucknott and the new relationship with Kevin revived the “curse of Strictly” legend, which holds that the dance show leads to relationship break-ups.
Personal trainer Tucknott, 30, revealed in an newspaper interview that the TV personality had called time on their five-year relationship and was now with Kevin.
He branded the professional dancer “a rat” but Stacey responded that “there are two sides to every story”. She insisted that she only fell for Kevin after her split with Tucknott.
She tweeted: “I haven’t got the time or energy to correct some of the utter nonsense I’ve read on here. Re Sam, I loved him v much and only wish him happiness and success.”
It was reported that Stacey and her ex had officially split on Boxing Day after a row. Then Tucknott was clearing their flat earlier this month when he discovered a text to Stacey from Kevin saying “I love you” with a red heart.
Rumours that Stacey and Kevin have been enjoying a secret romance began months ago, with photographs emerging of the pair heading into the same Birmingham hotel in January.
Stacey won the Glitterball trophy on Strictly for her routines with Kevin in December and then took part in the Stricly tour without him while he concentrated on his own Burn The Floor show. But he made a trip to the Midlands to show his support for Stacey on tour, cheering her on as she danced with Aljaz Skorjanec.
A Strictly insider said: “There was no reason for Kevin to slog all the way to Birmingham to see her perform. The fact he did speaks volumes about where they were in their relationship.”
Tucknott admitted in his interview that their relationship was under strain late last year while Stacey spent 14 hours a day training with Kevin for their Strictly win.
