Fern Britton is currently presenting the Watercolour Challenge reboot after the former Channel 4 programme was revived by Channel 5 last year. The fifth season kicked off on Monday, but eagle-eyed fans noticed a slight error made by producers during the first episode.

We are so sorry to have got them mixed up

While the episode was said to have been filmed in Yorkshire, Fern had actually been taping the show from Devon.

The former This Morning presenter hopped onto her official Twitter to apologise for the confusion.

“Dear All, an apology!” she said.

“#WatercolourChallenge was supposed to be in #Yorkshire this week but as many of you have pointed out, it’s coming from #Devon!

“We are so sorry to have got them mixed up.

“#YORKSHIRE episodes are starting next week.”

It appears the episodes are not airing in the chronological order in which they were taped, which caused a mishap with the show’s editors.

Fans reacted to Fern’s tweet in the comments section, saying they didn’t take issue with the location error, while others expressed their joy to see the show return 21 years after its last run on Channel 4.

“Thanks for letting us know but I don’t think it matters they are a brilliant set of programmes xx love seeing u on our TVs again fern xx” @Loopyloopla68 wrote.

Another Twitter user named @Jody39112758 said: “It’s a welcome addition where ever it’s from.”

@SimonJeremyMil1 chimed in, writing: “Great to see this series back! My Mom & I used to watch it 20 years ago!”

The Twitter user @VCM36 added: “It’s easily done Fern. Not a problem.”

Watercolour Challenge originally ran for four seasons and was presented by actress and comedian Hannah Gordon on Channel 4 between 1998 to 2001.

Fern promoted the show’s return last week during an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine.

During her discussion with TV presenter Lorraine Kelly, the Strictly Come Dancing 2012 contestant mentioned being “on the up” following the breakdown of her relationship with ex-husband Phil Vickery.

The pair divorced in 2020 after almost 20 years of marriage.

After Lorraine praised her former ITV colleague for “always bouncing back”, Fern replied: “Well, I think you have to look as if you’ve bounced back, that’s for sure.”

“But, you know, it’s coming back.”

Following her split with Phil, Fern moved out of the family home in Buckinghamshire and relocated to Cornwall as she embarked on a new life as a single mum of four.

Watercolour Challenge airs weekdays at 4pm on Channel 5.
