Sheridan Smith ‘lucky to be alive’ after ‘crashing £100k 4×4 into tree during Storm Arwen’

Sheridan Smith was 'lucky to be alive' after 'she smashed her £100,000 Range Rover into a tree during Storm Arwen on Saturday 27 November.

The 40 year old, who recently rekindled her 'fiery' romance with Alex Lawler after a date night, was reportedly driving her 4×4 when she came off the road near the village of Little Sampford, just 600 yards from her home in Essex, and allegedly smashed into a tree.

Sheridan, who is mum to one year old son Billy with ex-fiancé Jamie Horn, was reportedly taken back to her home by a friend before emergency services arrived, according to The Sun.

Police have reportedly spoken to the mum-of-one and her boyfriend following the crash but no other driver was involved or crime committed, The Sun reported.

The aftermath of the crash shows fragments of the black car scattered in the wooded area including tail lights and the rear bumper, in pictures obtained by the newspaper.

A neighbour told the publication: "Sheridan is so lucky to be alive. It could have been so much worse. Her car was stuck in the tree, it was a really bad crash."

They continued: "It could have been so much worse, she had cuts and bruises, but it could have been fatal, she was incredibly lucky. It was a brand new Range Rover, she hasn’t had it long. It’s almost a miracle she’s not hurt herself more."

The source added: "It’s an incredibly tight bend to take at the best of times, never mind in a freezing storm like Arwen."

The reported smash came just 90 minutes before the airing of the Jonathan Ross Show which was recorded on Wednesday 24 November.

However, the star was said to be annoyed after the filming of the show where it was claimed the “atmosphere was chauvinistic” and that she "has not been treated with kindness".

A source told The Sun: “Sheridan was absolutely furious when filming on Jonathan Ross had ended.

“She claimed the atmosphere was chauvinistic and there was an air of misogyny. She also claimed that she felt she had not been treated with kindness.

“Sheridan was seen shouting at the team who had come with her and said she was sacking them at one point.

“It was clear Sheridan was upset with her team backstage after filming.”
