The PINK carpet European premiere of Barbie with main cast Rylan Gosling
Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu, who both play versions of Ken in the new smash hit Barbie movie, have suffered an “awkward” moment on the pink carpet while promoting the film, according to fans.
As they posed for photos at the Barbie Press Day in Canada, the latter moved in to put his arm around his co-star’s waist.
However, it seems that the 42-year-old dad of two didn’t appreciate the gesture and seemingly brushed 34-year-old Simu’s hand away.
This led to a supposedly tense moment seen in footage posted to Twitter of the event, with Simu appearing to make light of it in front of the assembled media.
“You don’t like that? It’s too tender, do you think?” he enquired, before adding: “Fair enough,” and turning back to face the cameras.

In pictures taken after the incident which occured on June 28th but has only come to light now, Ryan remains brooding as he stands next to his fellow Ken before the clip was widely shared on social media leading many to comment on his behaviour.
@x4ndrr posted the video commenting: “Nobody likes him at all I’m crying.”(sic) This led a user called @3spideys to retweet the clip to their account and exclaim: “Omg this is awkward af i wanna die.”(sic)
A user with the handle @capricornzn wrote: “Okay is it me or has Ryan Gosling come off very arrogant for this entire press tour?”
However, @zyrestraits defended him, commenting: “Yeah he seems a bit grumpy for some reason during the last half of the tour. He’s probably just tired and lots of actors hate promoting their movies.”
@LegendaryLade complimented Simu for the way he dealt with the moment: “This Ken doesn’t like to be touched across the nape of his back. Simu Liu handled it well though.”
However, @misshndrxx took Ryan’s side writing: “I mean you supposed to ask before you touch someone.”

Barbie is currently the number one movie in the world and was released on the same day as Christopher Nolan’s biopic of the father of the atomic bomb Oppenheimer.
This saw cinemas enjoy a bumper weekend that was dubbed Barbenheimer as the two eagerly anticipated movies went head to head. Barbie won the battle grossing far more than their competitor at the box office.
Express.co.uk said of Barbie: “Barbie is a rare Hollywood blockbuster that is prepared to take some risks.”
The star-studded cast list features Margot Robbie in the titular role alongside Ryan as Ken, while Dame Helen Mirren narrates proceedings.
Despite its popularity, not everyone is loving it with Talk TVs Piers Morgan describing it as “preachy and irritating”, while hitting out at the “ironic” casting of Margot in the starring role.
