The latest jungle evictee Rita Simons suffered from a hypoglycemia incident before leaving I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The former EastEnders actress, 41, spent two days feeling out of sorts as her blood sugar level decreased due to camp’s measly rations.
Before being voted out on Tuesday’s episode, Rita was taken out of the camp and given medical treatment after suffering an episode on Monday night.
Speaking to co-hosts Holly Willoughby and Declan Donnelly following her exit, Rita said: "I had a mini hypoglycemia incident last night so for two days I have wondered why I was not right but I had low blood sugar levels and they took me out and they were great with it."
Hypoglycemia can cause people to suffer from clumsiness, confusion and a light-headed feeling as their blood sugar level plummets.
Rita’s attack meant she missed out on a camp game to win letters from home, meaning Rita was absent from screen.
In her exit interview, she praised campmate James McVey for supporting her when her blood sugar plummetted.
The soap star enthused: "He is like a little baby brother and when I had the Hypo thing, James was straight over there with a paper bag.”
Despite not reaching the final, Rita insisted she was thrilled to be out of the jungle after admitting the hunger and boredom was a struggle.
She explained: "Am I supposed to be upset? I am so happy to be out. I didn’t think it would be that hard. I made it to the point where we should all be proud. I am done I want to eat, I want to wash and I want to see my family.
"It was so much harder than I ever thought it would be. Everything I do I go in at the deep end but it is bl**dy hard. The thing that killed me the most was the boredom. People would go out and do tasks and I am no good at sitting around."
