Piers Morgan has confirmed he left his job at Good Morning Britain because he chose not to apologise for saying he didn't believe Meghan Markle's claims during her Oprah Winfrey interview.
The 55 year old, who was recently defended by pal Amanda Holden, took to his Instagram feed to speak out on his departure from the show as he shared a handwritten message to his 1.5million followers.
"A little note to all my followers…," he started. "Hi everyone. To all my supporters, I just wanted to drop you a note of thanks. (To all my haters, whatever.) It has been an extraordinary week for me, for Britain, for our monarchy and for our future.

"Those of you that know me well enough know that, despite my many faults, I’m always willing to stand my ground for the things that I think matter most."
Piers, whose former colleague Alex Beresford recently broke his silence after the star's GMB exit, went on to list the different topics he's taken a stand on in the past, which led to "the end" of previous jobs he's had.
He then turned back to his time on the ITV programme, confirming that he left his role as co-host of Good Morning Britain after stating he didn't believe 39 year old Meghan's claims about the Royal Family or her own experience having suicidal thoughts.

"And now I’ve lost my job at Good Morning Britain because I chose not to apologise for disbelieving Meghan Markle’s claims in her interview with Oprah Winfrey," he said.
The TV presenter continued: "I thus became the latest ‘victim’ of the cancel culture that is permeating our country, every minute, of every hour, of everyday.
"Though of course, I consider myself to be neither a victim, nor actually cancelled.

"However, I do believe the defence of free speech and the right to express honestly held opinions, is the most important issue of my career, and the most important issue in British society."
Piers ended his note by asking his loyal fans and followers to support him by buying his book titled Wake Up on Amazon, boasting that it costs less than £10.
He said: "I didn’t write it to make more money but because the very foundations of democracy, built upon freedom of expression, freedom of thought and freedom of speech, are under attack like never before and must be defended.
