‘My baby didn’t want McDonalds for breakfast – I’ve had to change’, says Olivia Bowen

Former Love Island star Olivia Bowen has revealed how falling pregnant with her son Abel has seen her ditch her junk food habits.

The reality TV star, 28, said she loved takeaways but after finding out she was pregnant she decided to change her eating habits.

The 28 year old admitted she didn’t have any respect for the food she put in her body before she became a mum.

Olivia said: “I’ve always struggled with maintaining a structured and healthy diet because I just don’t have enough discipline – I’d often forget to eat and then end up craving a takeaway.

“I admit that I’m too lazy when it comes to food, I hate meal prepping and food shopping and let my husband Alex do it all for us.

“This is why I would always gravitate towards unhealthy options, to the point that it would create a snowball effect and my body would start to crave it more and more."

Starting to eat for two was the motivation behind her health transformation, as she realised that her unhealthy food choices would be the source of nutrition for her baby.

She told Goal Getters: “Being responsible for providing the right nutrients for my baby made me think about my eating habits.

“Breastfeeding made me especially conscious that I can’t be unhealthy because everything I put in my body is passed directly on to my baby – although I may crave it, my baby doesn’t want to eat McDonald’s for breakfast.”

The new mum from Essex is working on getting more comfortable with her postpartum body and feeling healthy and energised.

Olivia admits that she often finds it tricky to balance motherhood with other parts of her life, especially because she’s already returned to work just five months after giving birth.

“I’ve gone back to work because I love what I do and feel most like myself when I’ve got goals to strive for. I’m in a really lucky position that I can take Abel with me as much as I can.

“Juggling work and a new baby is not easy, so having all my meals prepared and delivered means I eat at proper times and am not tempted to turn back to eating junk.

Now, as the family-of-three prepare for their first Christmas together, Alex, 31, and Olivia have shared their exciting plans with OK!.

“It’s all about family this year,” said Olivia, as Alex insisted that they’re going to “go all out”.
