Meghan Markle’s ‘unfortunate’ timing of Ellen interview will ‘annoy’ Palace, says expert

The timing of Meghan Markle's interview with Ellen DeGeneres will have "annoyed" the Palace, Royal expert Jennie Bond has said.

The 40 year old sat down with pal Ellen on her eponymous chat show on Thursday night, where she discussed her and 37 year old husband Prince Harry's new lives in Montecito.

But the interview was aired during her father-in-law Prince Charles and wife Camilla's tour of Jordan and one day after The Royal Variety Performance.

And former I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star Jennie, 71, says the timing of her Meghan's latest TV appearance is "unfortunate."

Speaking exclusively to OK!, she said: "It is very unfortunate, particularly coming in the middle of an important tour, the first official overseas tour since the pandemic of senior Royals.

"It always annoys the palace when other news stories overshadow a tour. So much work goes into these tours so that's unfortunate."

However, she continued: "She probably didn't have much say in when this was going to go out, but why she did it? I have no idea.

"It was innocuous stuff, it was starlet stuff. It seems to me that Meghan is no longer Royal, she had a brief interlude of being truly Royal and now she's a celebrity again.

"And good luck to her, use that platform, build that brand, but I really don't regard her as Royal any more at all."

During her interview with the chat show legend, Meghan shared a rare new photograph of her two year old son Archie playing with his pet chickens at his chicken coop called Chick Inn.

Look out for 'Kate At 40', a collector's edition of OK! magazine packed full of exclusive content about the Duchess Of Cambridge. On sale now for £4.99 at most good newsagents.

In the snap taken behind so his face is obscured, it sees Archie holding a basket and donning colourful wellies.

Archie is visiting his chicken coop and is seen looking at the hens as they eat off a miniature picnic table.

Wearing some denim jeans and a blue long-sleeved top, the youngster has presumably headed to the coop to collect their eggs with his basket.

Speaking to Meghan about the adorable snap, Ellen – who is a neighbour of Meghan and Harry's in Montecito – said that "he's so sweet with the chickens too".

The host added that "Archie is just such a gentle soul", to which Meghan smiled and answered: "Aww, thank you."
