Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are really on a roll. On Valentine’s Day in 2021, they announced that they are expecting their second child. That same week, Buckingham Palace released a statement officially confirming that the couple won’t return to their roles as working members of the royal family over a year after their “Megxit” announcement. The two made headlines again when they seemingly clapped back at their estranged family members, including the queen, by releasing their own statement addressing their philanthropic plans.
The soon-to-be parents of two kept that momentum going when they made an appearance via video chat on Spotify’s Stream On event on Feb. 22, 2021, per People. The Suits alum and Harry sat on a couch in their Santa Barbara, Calif. home while the song “Electric Love” by Børns played in the background. The duo discussed their new venture, Archewell Audio, a production company that they formed in 2020. The couple will create exclusive podcast content for Spotify users to enjoy. During the chat, Meghan and Harry also teased their upcoming projects and shared their goals for the content.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want to 'inspire' and 'educate'
During Spotify’s Stream On event in February 2021, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle finished each other’s sentences while they discussed their upcoming podcasts. Meghan began by saying, “We’re using podcasting to drive powerful conversations …” That’s when Harry chimed in to say, “… that inspire, challenge, and educate.” The former actor said, “We created Archewell Audio to make sure that we can elevate voices that maybe aren’t being heard and hear people’s stories.” In December 2020, they released a kick-off episode, asking Elton John, Tyler Perry, James Corden and others to reflect on the year 2020. They also made headlines when they had their then-19-month old son Archie speak into the microphone.
Harry shared that one of their primary goals is “to create this community of where you can share, that will encourage everybody else to then share their own vulnerabilities within that safe space.” The pair has been teasing their podcasting career for months, but they haven’t actually shared a timeline of when Spotify users will be able to enjoy the content. That being said, they are globally famous, and don’t need to give anyone an ounce of notice. Regardless, a lot of people will surely tune in.
