Baking legend Mary Berry has taken aim at her former Great British Bake Off colleague Paul Hollywood, as she has expressed her disappointment at how he has treated his ex-wife.
The 83-year-old cake maker extraordinaire was a close friend of Alex, 54, who Paul left last year before hooking up with current partner, 23-year-old Summer Monteys-Fullam.
The Bake Off judges were at the Good Food Show at Birmingham NEC, to do cookery demonstrations but Mary is thought to have wanted to avoid seeing Paul.
She is still seething at Paul’s treatment of Alex and has ‘refused to speak’ to his current girlfriend.
The Sun has reported that Mary also turned down the chance to be on stage with Paul or even be photographed with him.
A source has said that, "you could cut the tension with a knife," and that Mary had given Summer, "an icy stare."
There had been a simmering clash of ideals after Mary stayed loyal to the BBC, after Bake Off was bought by Channel 4.
Now, the break-up of Paul’s marriage has left a bad taste in Mary’s mouth and this was evident when he tried to entice Mary to join him for a baking masterclass.
An insider told The Sun that he wanted to, "send the fans wild," with them both working together in front of the audience but Mary had, "said no quite forcefully."
Mary had metaphorically rejected a ‘Hollywood handshake’ and while he was apparently keen to bury the hatchet between them, Mary was not so forgiving.
The source said that Mary, "spoke to him briefly," but wasn’t keen to mend any broken bridges in their relationship.
