Marc Jacobs Is Delivering an Affordable New Line to the Fans

Many a black, mascara-tinged tear was shed over the loss of Marc by Marc Jacobs — the affordable little sister line to the designer’s premium collection, which shuttered in 2015. But fellow frugal Jacobs fans can on this day rejoice, because a new accessible label is in the works.

WWD reports that Marc Jacobs will be debuting a new, “democratically priced” label with his pre-fall 2019 collection called “The Marc Jacobs,” sharing its name with the fashion designer’s personal Instagram handle. (As if keeping Marc Jacobs, The Marc Jacobs and the defunct Marc by Marc Jacobs straight wasn’t hard enough.)

The line is currently being viewed by various retailers alongside the “Runway” collection, however it remains under an embargo for press. As far as we know, it is helmed by the designer himself, whereas Marc by Marc was under the creative direction of Katie Hillier and her design partner Luella Bartley (the pair now run the aptly named label, Hillier Bartley). WWD was able to obtain an image from the upcoming label’s lookbook, which can be viewed here.

Perhaps “The Marc Jacbos” is just want the luxury label needs to breathe new life into their brand.
