Lil Uzi Vert has suspiciously removed the pink diamond piercing from his forehead after splurging $24million (£17m) on the jewellery.
The XO Tour Llif3 rapper, real name Symere Bisil Woods, raised eyebrows when he revealed the unique piercing in February.
He had been paying off the eye-watering diamond, said to be between 10-11 carats, since 2017.
However in recent weeks, fans have noticed that the piercing has been noticeably absent from Lil Uzi’s head where it was once embedded.
On Monday, the rapper put on a flirtatious display on social media with his rapper girlfriend, JT from City Girls. In her Instagram stories, the couple are seen cosying up to each other and kissing while Lil Uzi’s forehead is clearly diamond-free.
Days before, the lovebirds headed on a double date with music producer Future and his girlfriend Dess Dior in Miami, Florida, and the diamond was missing again when they posed for group photos.
In fact, the diamond has been MIA since as far back as April when Lil Uzi shot a Calvin Klein advert without it. At the time, the rapper’s followers wondered where the memorable pink diamond had got to, with one commenting: ‘What happened to the diamond in ya fore?’
‘Wheres that stone on yo forehead [sic]?’ another asked, as one questioned: ‘Where’s the diamond uzi?’
Just in case Lil Uzi hadn’t noticed himself, another follower stated: ‘Your diamonds [sic] gone.’
Lil Uzi, 26, first revealed his plans for the face diamond in January and informed his social media followers: ‘I’ve been paying for a natural pink diamond from Elliot for years now,’ in reference to celebrity jeweller Eliott Eliantte.
‘This one Stone cost so much I’ve been paying for it since 2017. That was the first time I saw a real natural pink diamond. A lot of M’s in my face.’
Confirming the eye-watering price tag, Lil Uzi added that the cost was more than ‘all my cars together, plus home’.
‘Yes my Bugatti can’t even pay for it … all my cars together, plus home, this took so long now I can get this money,’ he said.
He unveiled the bold face piercing on his Instagram the following month. Naturally, it drew a mixed response from fans with some loving the look and others suggesting the rapper could have put his money to better use.
Responding to criticism that the diamond was positioned off-centre, Lil Uzi replied: ‘It’s actually in the middle.
‘When the swelling goes down I’ll get a short bar so it won’t move. Y’all keep talking ’bout it’s off ’cause of the long bar in it so it can move, cause of the swelling.’
As for why Lil Uzi would want such a prominent piercing, he replied to a fan on Twitter: ‘If I lose the ring yeah U will make fun of me more than putting it in my forehead ha ha jokes on you ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha… And yes I do have insurance.’
The rapper rose to fame in 2016 with the song Money Longer and later featured on Migos’ smash hit single Bad and Boujee. He’s released two albums, both reaching number one on the Billboard 200 chart, and was nominated for best new artist at the Grammys in 2018.
