Atomic Kitten star Kerry Katona has sent her best wishes to Rachel Stevens – who revealed she isn't ready to get back onto the dating scene just yet since parting from her husband Alex Bourne in July last year.
Kerry, 42, who is happily engaged to her fiancé Ryan Maloney after he proposed back in 2020, reflected on what it was like to put herself out there again after she and her ex husband Brian McFadden, 42, called time on their marriage in 2004.
As the mum of five looked back on her previous heartbreak in her column, she explained that the best thing to do after a break up is to look after yourself.
She wrote: "Rachel Stevens has said she’s not ready to start dating again after splitting from her husband. I know from experience that you do need time on your own before finding love again.
"It’s so important to have that space to work on yourself. Rachel needs time to heal and it will be a massive adjustment for her children, too."
Kerry then said: "The one mistake I made after splitting from Brian was jumping straight into a relationship. I was still heartbroken and I thought it would fix me, but it never works that way. It’s a difficult thing to go through and I wish Rachel all the best."
Kerry shares daughters Molly, 21, and Lilly, 20, with Westlife star Brian. She was also previously married to Mark Croft, the father to her children Heidi, 16, and Max, 14, and the late George Kay, who was dad to eight-year-old daughter DJ.
Rachel, 44, opened up on her painful marriage split after she and Alex had almost been together for 13 years.
The former couple announced their decision just a month before they were due to celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary.
She said at the time: "While we are no longer partners in marriage, we will remain partners in parenthood to our beautiful girls and continue with love and respect for each other.
"I feel so incredibly grateful for the life we built together and will now continue to be focused on moving forward united as a family."
But a few months after being newly single, Rachel told The Sun how she is feeling since parting from Alex.
"It’s very hard to articulate the feelings, because there are so many. It’s been really painful, really sad. It’s been the biggest decision to make in our lives, obviously, with our kids," she shared.
Rachel then said she isn't ready to go on dates just yet, as she revealed: "Yeah, there’s been a few [offers to take her out]. But no, I’m not ready to start dating.
"I’ve got enough going on for now."
However, the S Club 7 star shared: "But I love love. I’m the soppiest person. We should be happy to be in love and deserve all the great things in life."
Rachel moved out of their home and now lives in a new place with her two daughters Amelie, 11, and eight year old Minnie.
