Who knew that Orlando Bloom was so romantic?
On Valentine’s Day, the actor proposed to longtime girlfriend Katy Perry in a helicopter, she revealed on Monday.
“It was very sweet,” Perry, 34, told Jimmy Kimmel. “We went to dinner and I thought we were going to see some art after dinner but we pulled up to a helicopter.”
From there, the couple flew over Los Angeles.
“The funny part is we had champagne in the helicopter and the [ring] box was in his pocket and he had written down everything he wanted to say on a note,” she added. Bloom, 42, perhaps overcome with nerves, got clumsy.
“So I’m reading, but I’m hearing the champagne is broken and the bottle’s everywhere… he’s pulling out this box that’s too big for his coat pocket, rips his coat pocket and his elbow goes into the champagne,” Perry recalled.
After he popped the question, the couple landed somewhere in downtown Los Angles where Perry’s family and friends were waiting.
“He did so well,” she said with a giant smile.
As previously reported, Bloom proposed with a flower-shaped engagement ring that featured either a ruby or vivid pink diamond ring.
While the ring is unusual by engagement ring standards, when Kimmel asked who picked it out, Perry said she voiced her opinions on the sparkler.
The pair first began dating in 2016 and broke up around March 2017. Perry and Bloom rekindled their romance in early 2018 with a trip to the Maldives.
No wedding date has been set.
