Comedian Kathy Griffin revealed she has lung cancer, sharing the news moments before she went into surgery. Griffin shared the news on Instagram, telling fans she’s never smoked and the cancer is at stage 1. She also hoped to avoid chemotherapy and radiation, adding that she was grateful to be fully vaccinated before going into the surgery.

Griffin took fans by surprise with her Instagram announcement. “I’ve got to tell you guys something,” she began her post. “I have cancer. I’m about to go into surgery to have half of my left lung removed. Yes, I have lung cancer even though I’ve never smoked! The doctors are very optimistic as it is stage one and contained to my left lung.”
“I should be up and running around as usual in a month or less,” she continued. “It’s been a helluva 4 years, trying to get back to work, making you guys laugh, and entertaining you, but I’m gonna be just fine. Of course, I am fully vaccinated for Covid. The consequences for being unvaccinated would have been even more serious. Please stay up to date on your medicate cleck ups it’ll save your life.”

Kathy Griffin had a health scare she thought was Covid in March 2020
She was still unable to get tested for the virus during her March 2020 visit to the hospital. “The doctor was going through the boxes and going through the boxes (on a form) and she kept saying, like, ‘Ugh, because of the lungs, the fever and the kind of cough… you don’t meet the CDC requirements,’” she told the Los Angeles Times.
“The realization when they told me the guidelines was, ‘Wow … I now know not to come back unless my lungs are full with what feels like pieces of shattered mirror, unless I can’t breathe and unless my fever is 103 …,’” she added. “They’re not making the rules at all. That’s a frightening feeling.”

Griffin recovered and was finally able to return to work. She recently posted about heading off to her next gig. “FLEX ALERT Self made comedian and businesswoman flies to next gig,” she posted two weeks ago along with a video.
She headed to New York and shared funny videos of how she tried to walk all of her dogs at the same time. “Dogs first time in NYC. What you don’t see is New Yorkers just walking around us because they know these dogs are trouble :)” she wrote along with video of all four dogs prancing down the street.
