John Travolta’s nephew Sam has died just weeks after the Grease star lost his wife Kelly Preston to cancer.
The 52-year-old died on September 23 in Wisconsin, according to The Sun, with a friend of his telling the publication: ‘He will be greatly missed, but he will always be with us.
‘I found out through high school friends, they reached out to me to let me know. We had a great time when we used to hang together in high school.
‘Sam was definitely proud of being related to John Travolta. He was happy go lucky and a good friend, good-spirited.’
Sam was the son of the actor’s eldest brother, Sam Travolta Sr, and his cause of death is currently unknown.
He was a screenwriter, and previously claimed that his uncle sent him a monthly allowance of $1800 (£1300).
The sad loss comes just weeks after John’s wife Kelly died from breast cancer.
The Battlefield Earth actress, who died at the age of 57, kept her health battle private.
John, 66, who was married to Kelly for 28 years, confirmed the sad news on Instagram, saying in a statement: ‘It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer.
‘She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many. My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side.’
‘Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered,’ he continued. ‘I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while.
‘But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal. All my love, JT’
Earlier this month, he also marked his wife’s birthday, by sharing a sweet snap on Instagram and writing: ‘Happy Birthday hon! I found this photo of my mom and dad‘s wedding. It was nice to see ours alongside theirs. All my love, John.’
