Gypsy, who is serving time for the second-degree murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, met Ken through a prison pen-pal program—he wrote to her first and later visited her multiple times in jail. Initially, Gypsy and her family were keeping her relationship with Ken under wraps, but in the time between the engagement news and their split, they released a photo of all of them together. In April, a Blanchard family friend named Fancy Macelli told In Touch, “They don’t know exactly what they’re going to do when she gets out. It’s a long way down the road, obviously, so things can change.”
Gypsy is up for parole in 2023, but now it looks like she won’t be planning her wedding anymore or calling Ken if she gets out.
