Gary Barlowleft fans worried after he shared an important update to his wife’s health.
TheTake Thatstar, 51, took to Twitter to let fans know that Dawn Andrews was ‘on the mend’ following an operation that left her ‘in a lot of pain’.
He wrote: “In other news – Mrs B broke her wrist 4 weeks ago – on Friday she had a big operation – she’s in a lot of pain but on the mend – juggling real life this week with the blessing of being in the West End – it never rains ………”
Gary is currently performing in his show A Different Stage on tour across the country to promote his new book. The show features his music and intimate chats with audiences.
After sharing the update online, fans rushed to share their best wishes for Dawn: “Poor Mrs B, she doesn't have much luck does she! (Apart from being married to you obvs!) Hope she recovers well & the pain eases. I suffer with chronic pain so she has my sympathies! Im sure you're looking after her well xx”.
Another said: “The challenges life throws us …Wishing Dawn a speedy recovery and sending love and strength …I’m sure Mr B will step up”.
While one added: “Sending my love to Dawn hope she gets better soon xx”.
The update on Dawn’s health comes asGary spoke on the tour about the tragic stillbirththe pair faced 10 years ago.
His and Dawn's fourth child, Poppy, was sadly born stillborn in August 2012, with Gary admitting he struggled to deal with "the scar that wasn't going to heal".
The heartbreaking moment happened days before Gary was to play at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympics and he recounted it: "It's August 2012, Dawn has gone for a last minute check-up.
“Only four days to go, we're all so excited. Name is on the nursery, Moses basket, cot, clothes all over the floor waiting for the main player to arrive.
"Dawn calls and something's wrong. Now this is one of those phone calls where you live a lifetime in a second.
"We all have coping mechanisms, back there was the bulimia and the hallelujahs in the toilet. I'm not saying just having a run is going to cure it, but those were my coping mechanisms. I dealt with this by turning into b****y Inspector Gadget.”
Gary recalled struggling to cope at first but praised his wife Dawn's reaction to the ordeal.
He said: "From that point on, she did all her talking with actions. As soon as she was allowed back on her feet – pick-ups, drop-offs, parents evenings, playdates, the whole time coping with loss so deep.”
Gary added: “There are just no words for that kind of strength.
"I found myself back in that familiar place, not knowing any of the words or where to stand, nor what to say. I needed to accept this wasn’t a scar that was going to heal with time, this was a scar I was going to die with."
