Eamonn Holmes ‘trying so hard’ to walk again as he issues health update

Eamonn Holmes has said he is "trying so hard" to walk again after recent health struggles left him needing a wheelchair.

The GB News host, 63, has been going through some health struggles which have left him unable to walk and move properly, as well as suffering with chronic pain.

In a new Instagram post, the TV host can be seen being strapped up in a harness as he relearns how to walk.

He captioned the photo: "Learning to walk with purpose today. Gosh I'm trying so hard. The harness gives me more confidence than I have. Wish me well."

The star previously explained his health struggles, revealing that he had been suffering from disc problems in his back for a year and a half.

These were caused by a dislocated pelvis in 2021. Eamonn decided to undergo back surgery in September 2022 in the hopes of improving things.

Fans and friends were quick to send their support to Eamonn as they sent him their well wishes in the comment section.

Lucy Alexander commented: "I used to get kitty in the harness – this is GREAT !!! C’mon E you can do it. Super proud."

Carol Vorderman wrote: "Oh gosh Eamonn. Sending hugest love and strength."

S Club 7 star Jo O'Meara also commented, writing: "Sending lots of love Eamonn."

Devastatingly, he replied: "@jo_omeara When will this nightmare end?"

Eamonn previously revealed that Jo contacted him when he first started to talk openly about his back problems, as she revealed that she'd had the same issues.

The singer, 43, has herself undergone four painful surgeries on her back, and recommended her surgeon to him.

Speaking to MailOnline, Eamonn revealed the impact of their interaction.

"She got in touch to say she had the same disc problems I did and had just had surgery with a German surgeon," he said.

"I asked if she could pass on his details, because by now I was desperate."

The day before practicing walking in a sling, Eamonn shared an image of himself with a boxing coach who has also been putting him through his paces.

Meanwhile, he has also revealed that balancing on one leg with his eyes closed has helped him to regain some of his balance and poise.

Last month, the GB News favourite was seen being pushed in a wheelchair by his son, Declan.

The father and son duo were pictured leaving the iconic Wembley Stadium after their team Manchester United had lifted the Carabao Cup.
