Donald Trump says White House to intervene in A$AP Rocky arrest

President Trump said the State Department will intervene on behalf of A$AP Rocky — who has spent the last two weeks in a Swedish jail — at the behest of First Lady Melania Trump.

“Sweden is a great country. They are friends of mine, the leadership — and we are going to be calling, we’ll be talking to them,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office during an unrelated event. “We’ve already started.”

The White House had stayed out of the growing international controversy — despite pleas for an intervention from New York lawmakers and a star-studded list of celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Kayne West — until the First Lady spoke up.

“I have been called by so many people asking me to help A$AP Rocky,” Trump said, before turning to his wife and adding, “Actually, the one who knew about A$AP Rocky was our first lady, right? She was telling me about — ‘Can you help A$AP Rocky?’”

He then turned to the First Lady and asked her: “Do you want to give a little statement on that?”

“We’ve been working with [the] State Department,” Melania Trump told the room. “We hope to get him home soon.”

A Swedish judge ruled earlier Friday that prosecutors can keep A$AP Rocky and two members of his entourage in jail until July 25 as they complete their probe into the June 30 street fight.
