Dolly Parton’s Strawberry Pretzel Pie Ice Cream Debut Crashes Website

The mass demand for Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams special flavor created for Dolly Parton sent its price soaring and a website crashing.

The special Strawberry Pretzel Pie flavor was supposed to go on sale on Jeni’s website on Thursday, but due to the immediate heavy traffic, the site crashed.

“To those of you trying to order Strawberry Pretzel Pie online, we are so sorry. This sucks. The flavor is NOT sold out. Our website issues have lasted longer than expected, but we are working on it and will let you know via email and social media when we’re back up and running,” the Jeni’s noted on Twitter.

Jeni’s made 10,000 pints in its initial run, which limited two pints per purchase in stores. But the Columbus-headquartered artisan ice cream company says more is on the way and customers will be given 48-hour notice when it’s available again.

However, the flavor’s pints are reportedly available on eBay, and one eBay user from Pasadena, California, listed a pint of the ice cream for $1,000.

The country music legend partnered with the boutique ice cream retailer to benefit her Imagination Library childhood literacy organization.
