According to a report released by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Bob was found by hotel security on Sunday afternoon, January 9 after his family requested a wellness check because they had not been able to reach him. The staffer knocked on Bob’s door multiple times before going in around 4 P.M. ET, only to find all the lights up.
Upon entering the room, they found Bob deceased “in a supine position on his bed.” The supine position means lying horizontally with the face and torso facing up. TMZ additionally reported that the deputy notes in the docs Bob was found with his left arm across his chest and right on the bed. The staffer says he was cold to the touch and when they checked for signs of breathing or pulse, none was detected.
When EMS personnel arrived, Bob was pronounced dead on the scene. “I checked the immediate area for signs of foul play. It should be noted none were found. The room itself was orderly with items owned by Mr. Saget on the nightstand, television stand, closet and bathroom,” the report reads, with the responding officer stating “no signs of trauma were seen.”
Medications were present, according to the report, and it’s noted Bob’s medical history is unknown. Police say no drugs were found. The Ritz notes that Bob last entered the room at 2:17 A.M.
Meanwhile, more tributes have poured in from fellow celebrities. Taking to his show on Monday night, Jimmy Kimmel choked up as he remembered the late actor. “Bob was the sweetest. He was the sweetest man,” Jimmy emotionally said in his monologue. “I have so many wonderfully kind and supportive texts and emails and calls from Bob. He always had a compliment. He’d write sometimes just to tell me he loved me and I know he did that for many people… He had something funny to say about everything and nothing bad to say about anyone. Never.”
“When my son was in the hospital, Bob checked in a lot. I want to send love to his daughters, to his wife Kelly and to his friends who loved him so much,” the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host added. “He was very kind to everyone and he had no problem telling you that he loved you and what you meant to him.”
Lori Loughlin, who starred alongside Bob on “Full House” and its Netflix sequel “Fuller House“, said in a statement to Page Six, “Words cannot begin to express how devastated I am. Bob was more than my friend, he was my family. I will miss his kind heart and quick wit. Thank you for a lifetime of wonderful memories and laughter. I love you Bobby.”
Meanwhile, another “Full House” star, Jodie Sweetin, posted a lengthy note on her Instagram page. “There aren’t enough words to express what I’m feeling today. Nor are they big enough to capture even a slice of who he was,” she began. “One thing I do know, is that we never missed a chance to tell each other, ‘I love you.’ “
She remembered her TV dad, “Bob was a wonderful human being. A human being that could drive you nuts at times, and he knew it, but who was so genuine that you couldn’t even get that frustrated. He was a genuinely kind spirit who made it through so much in his life, and was most happy when he was helping others. Whether it was personally or through SO many of his different avenues of philanthropy. He gave great hugs too.”
“I’ll miss you Bob,” Jodie added, before promising, “I’ll make sure and tell an inappropriate joke at your funeral. In your honor. I know you would’ve wanted that. But you were supposed to be here longer…”
Bob was found dead in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando on Sunday, January 10. He was 65 years old. His sudden passing has left his wife Kelly Rizzo, who dubbed him her “whole heart” and “absolute everything,” “so completely shattered and in disbelief.”
