Countryfile: James Martin and Anita Rani discuss ‘essential’ show
She will present the Friday and Saturday slots, with her first broadcast on the Radio Four flagship this week. The Countryfile host, 43, said: “I am really looking forward to getting to know the listeners and discussing issues that matter to them the most. “Woman’s Hour has always given a voice to people who may not be heard elsewhere and I want to continue that important tradition.
“What an honour and what a way to kick off the weekend. I’ve long been a fan of Woman’s Hour and admired the presenters who have hosted the show previously.
“So I cannot wait to become part of it myself as second presenter, alongside the brilliant Emma Barnett.”
Ms Barnett took over after long-serving hosts Dame Jenni Murray, inset top, and Jane Garvey, bottom, left last year.

But there was controversy when guest Kelechi Okafor, pulled out seconds before she was due on air.
She claimed she had overheard “degrading” remarks made about her by Emma.
She hosts from Monday to Thursday.
Anita tweeted: “Cannot wait to get behind the mic to talk about all the things you want me to. All aboard the mothership.”
