AJ Pritchard’s girlfriend Abbie Quinnen, 23, said she feared she was dying when a stunt intended for YouTube went horribly wrong. The life hack video was planned to show fans how to cut a glass bottle in half to be used as a vase.
The trick involves dipping a rope in a flammable chemical and setting light to it once it’s wrapped around the bottle.
But after the stunt went wrong, AJ’s girlfriend was left with third-degree burns and needing skin grafts.
During a test run at AJ’s flat back in January, Abbie said her hair caught fire and spread to her body “within seconds”.
“I was panicking and screaming. I dropped down to the floor and I was rolling to try to put out the fire,” she recalled.
Addressing her reaction at the time, she added: “The first thing I said to AJ was, ‘Is my face going to be OK? Are you still going to love me?’
“I kept repeating this to him and I was shaking in horror,” she added to The Sun.
Abbie went on to say the former Strictly Come Dancing star attempted to put out the flames with wet towels.
Once they eventually went out, the influencer said her skin began to blister.
Abbie spent the night in intensive care while AJ and his brother Curtis waited outside the hospital, due to coronavirus.
She was later transferred to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital’s Burns unit.
The dancer added she felt “embarrassed” about the way she looked and didn’t want AJ to see her as she was.
Five days later, he picked her up from the hospital and has since been helping her at home.

“He reassures me constantly and tells me we are together forever — he welcomed me home with balloons,” she added.
“I can’t thank him enough. He’s been incredible. He helps me moisturise every day, he washes my silicone pads, used to reduce scarring. I’m so grateful.”
The incident initially left Abbie having to take 27 tablets a day to deal with the pain.
She is now just on paracetamol after feeling drowsy from the pills.
Abbie took to her Instagram page to address the incident earlier this week.
She said as part of a lengthy statement: “It went terribly wrong and resulted in me incurring injuries and burns requiring continuous hospital treatment over the past 7 weeks.”
The dancer went on to urge her fans to be careful if they had been copying her YouTube videos.
She concluded her post thanking the doctors and nurses who had helped her with her treatment.
