Former Love Island star Curtis Pritchard, 24, said the family will not notify AJ Pritchard of the devastating news whilst he’s still on the hit ITV show, and instead will tell him after he exits the castle. With the final episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2020 set to air on Friday, Curtis said the family has made the decision to wait until then to let AJ know of the sad news.

With the final episode of the show set to air this Friday, Curtis said the family has made the decision to wait until then to let AJ know of the sad news.

Taking to Instagram, Curtis penned a poignant message alongside a sweet snap of his beloved grandma Angela.

Referencing his older brother AJ, Curtis penned: “It is following our grandad’s wishes that myself and AJ are to carry on with the current projects we are committed to.

“Grandad said to myself and AJ that it would break his heart for us to stop what we were doing as Nanna had such pride in our work.”

Curtis went on: “AJ therefore discussed with the family before entering the castle that if something did happen to Nanna whilst he was away, that he wouldn’t want to be told until he left the castle and that in her honour he would complete his commitment to the show, with a view to doing her and the family proud.

“As Grandad and Nanna would have wished for, AJ will stay in the castle and continue making her proud wherever she is watching from.”

Curtis added: “AJ has so much more to give to the show and we know that Nanna will be watching and guiding him throughout the final part of his journey on the programme.

“We know we have made the right decision for everyone involved.”

Curtis has recently started filming the new series of Celebs Go Dating, so he will continue to do so as per his granddad’s wish.

Alongside the snap and thoughtful note, devastated Curtis added: “Life is beautiful, life is incredible, life is magical… But sadly it doesn’t last forever. RIP, I love your Nanna

“Nanna words literally cannot describe how much I love you, and forever will love you and the memories of you.

“You really have been a massive part of my life and helped me to be the man I am today.”

The lengthy tribute also saw Curtis call his beloved grandmother “one of the most inspirational women on the planet”.

Revealing that she was diagnosed with dementia 10 years ago, Curtis said it was his “family’s turn to look after her”.

Curtis also said that the currently restrictions in place amid the coronavirus pandemic have made her passing even more difficult to bear.

“Covid has made this time even harder as only 2 family members had the chance to see Nanna and hold her hand as she passed away in hospital this Friday,” Curtis wrote.

Naturally, the heartbreaking post saw fans and celebs alike flock to the comments section to shower Curtis with well wishes.

Gerodie Shore star Chloe Ferry wrote: “Hope you’re okay,” alongside heart emojis, meanwhile Strictly’s Saffron Barker wrote: “I’m so sorry.”

“Curtis, I’m so sorry for you loss. I know this is hard, she loves you so much and is so so so proud of you. Thinking of you all and sending you all love! You’ll get through this,” added another fan.

Curtis recently revealed he’s missing his brother more than he thought he would, saying: “[After he left] I sat on the sofa and I felt lost. I feel on my own. I am missing him actually. I didn’t think I would, but I am.”
