Abbie Quinnen marks anniversary of ‘horrifying’ burns accident with hospital pictures

Abbie Quinnenhas marked the anniversary of her burns accident by sharing a string of hospital pictures.

Abbie, 24, suffered third-degree burns last year after she and boyfriend AJ Pritchard, 26, were making a video that went wrong.

AJ and Abbie planned to film a life hack video showing how to cut a glass bottle in half to be used a vase and dipped rope in a flammable chemical. They then tied the rope around the bottle and set it alight.

The filming of the ‘hack’ leftAbbie’s face, hair and the top part of her body on fire.

A year on from the traumatic ordeal, Abbie took to social media to discuss it, and how she’s still receiving treatment for her burns.

She wrote next to a series of photos: “A year ago today I survived the most horrific accident I could of possibly imagined! I would love to say I am fully recovered but unfortunately I’m not and probably never will be as I know I’m going to have life long scars!! I have been really upset the past few days & felt really strange as I knew this day was coming! I’ve just constantly been thinking why did this happen & that I’m so young!”

Abbie continued: “I’m 24 years old and I have to live like this for the rest of my life with these burn scars on my body! But i know I haven’t finished my treatments yet, there are other options and most importantly scars don’t define you!”

The dancer went on to say that she’s “proud” of her scars as they show her how strong she is, and expressed her hopes of raising “as much money as possible” for burns patients this year.

Abbie has since been inundated with supportive messages from her 88,000 followers, including by fellow burns survivor, Katie Piper.

Katie wrote: “You’ve come so far and never given up. Admire you”.

Meanwhile, Ferne McCann branded Abbie as a “brave girl”, as doting boyfriend AJ said: “You are so Strong .. This year is going to be a Great year.”

“So so proud of you my beautiful girl love you forever and always,” said someone else.

Another person penned: “You are incredibly strong and resilient beautiful girl! Keep shining & spreading that light of yours- it’s always within you.”

Back in August,Abbie ran a half marathon to raise money for charity, just six months after her accident.

The money raised went to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital the same hospital that treated her.

Abbie’s Just Giving page for the run is still live and, at the time of writing, she’s raised over £2,000.
