A Place In The Sun presenter Jonnie Irwin, 47, has hit back on social media after a fan asked him if he “had no shame” for going skip diving. The presenter posted a cheeky snap of himself enjoying looking for items that had been thrown out outside a house, but did not tell his followers what he was planning on using his second-hand finds for.

The Channel 4 host took to Instagram to tell his 24,800 followers of his thrifty items, while out walking his twins, Rafa and Cormac.

Jonnie posted a carousel of pictures documenting his walk with his sons, as well as his adventure skip diving.

He captioned the post: “Quick walk with Fabio & Grooverider and managed to do a bit of skip diving.

“Saved me a trip to the timber merchants at least although now have no excuse to put off a job that’s long over due! #diy.” (sic)

In the first picture the property expert stood next to the double buggy, while his sons were in showing off the planks of wood he had scrounged from the skip.

Over the next couple of pictures, the TV host documented his skip diving adventures, even posing cheekily while standing outside the skip with his finger over his mouth.

Fans were quick to comment, with one asking the presenter if he had “no shame”.

“Do you have no shame Jonnie? Lol,” (sic) they wrote.

But the Channel 4 presenter wrote back justifying his actions.

“I’m all about the recycling!” he quipped.

Another fan agreed with Jonnie’s sentiment, adding: “‘Waste not want not’ as my mum always said!”

A third penned: “Nothing wrong with it.. it’s disgusting what people throw away and if there’s something that can be repurposed or even to feed someone… that’s OK!”

At the end of last year the Escape To The Country presenter gave fans an insight into his renovations on his Highgate home.

Giving a glimpse inside, he detailed his plastered walls ahead of showcasing the final result.

Showing fans the kitchen, the desirable, spacious room consisted of fresh white paint, black worktops and shiny wooden floors.

He wrote: “Here’s some before and after shots of my place in London.

“Personally I’m not the best at decorating and just couldn’t get down to London in this lockdown to do any work to this project.

“I’ve learnt in the past not to scrimp when it comes to decorating as the finish is the first thing prospective tenants and buyers see.”

Praising the team that helped renovate his property, he added: “They were totally professional all the way through, and left the place even cleaner than when they started.

“The place looks mint. It’s a minefield finding good tradesmen sometimes so when I get great service then I’m always happy to shout about it.”
