This facial oil helps to calm acne-prone, oily skin

From CBD and superfoods to rosehip and tea tree, facial oils can be incredibly beneficial. But which one can most effectively help acne-prone skin? Meet marula oil.

Facial oils have been a staple in our skincare routines for years. We’re all familiar with rosehip, vitamin E and coconut oils, but right now there’s a lot of focus on one oil in particular: marula oil.

This multipurpose oil is derived from the nuts of the marula tree (also known as the Sclerocarya birrea botanical) in South Africa.

Not only is it nutrient-rich, but it can help blemish-prone skin as its non-greasy texture doesn’t lead to the blockage of pores. Better still, it also helps with the scarring that can result from breakouts.

“Marula oil is one of the earliest discovered scar remedies” says Dr Ashton Kaidi, co-founder of Marula Pure Beauty Oil. “In South Africa, women apply marula to their skin as a moisturiser and also to promote better scars”.

From funnelling essential fatty acids into skin to healing scars, marula oil may well be the next port of call for skin in need of a little clarity. But where can you find this ingredient?
