Love Island has been full of drama this year already, and earlier today, Sherif Lanre was removed from the villa.
The ITV2 contestant agreed to leave the show after what he called “a case of poor judgement”.
Nothing is known about why exactly Sherif was removed, but a source has previously explained to The Mirror how it “wasn’t a criminal matter”.
However, tonight’s edition of Love Island didn’t delve into any details at all, with voiceover, Iain Sterling just stating the previously established facts.
Towards the end of the episode, Iain said: “Earlier today following conversations with producers, Sherif left the villa.
“But it was another day for the remaining islanders.”
Love Island then moved straight on to show the ins and outs of Joe Garratt and Lucie Donlan’s first date together.
However, that didn’t stop viewers from erupting on Twitter as they were upset they didn’t know what happened to Sherif.
One wrote: “Can someone pleaseeeee just mention Sherif & why he’s been kicked out.”
Another added: “This is such a dead episode… if you producers don’t tell us why Sherif was kicked out.”
A third shared: “What’s this throwaway comment on Sherif like he never was there.”
“So the islanders aren’t going to mention the fact that Sherif is gone,” said a fourth.
A fifth raged: “I better get a preview of Sherif leaving in five mins or this show is over.”
Earlier today, a Love Island representative told press: “After breaking the villa rules Sherif had conversations with the producers and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the Love Island villa.”
Sherif added in a statement: “In a case of poor judgement, I broke the villa rules and as a result agreed with the producers that it was best for me to leave the villa.
“I regret that I didn’t conduct myself in the right way and, as a 20 year old guy, it’s something I know I will take on board and learn from.
“I really enjoyed my time in the villa and look forward to catching up with everyone on the outside.”
Sherif was coupled up with Anna Vakili on Love Island.
It is understood she will remain on the show as a single participant for the time being.
Love Island continues tomorrow on ITV2 at 9pm.
