Knicks President Steve Mills said Kristaps Porzingis threatened to return to Europe if he wasn’t traded within seven days.
“He … point-blank said to us, ‘I don’t want to be here,’” Mills said at a Chase Fan Forum Series on Wednesday. ‘I’m not going to re-sign with the Knicks and I’m going to give you seven days to trade me, or I’m going back to Europe.’”
While this is not a new piece of the puzzle — The Post’s Marc Berman had reported as much in early February — it does mark the first time anyone from the Knicks has gone on the record over this specific demand surrounding the multi-player blockbuster trade that sent Porzingis to the Mavericks during the winter.
