LAURENT KOSCIELNY is ready for a legal showdown with Arsenal after being told to take a FIFTY per cent pay cut.

The striking skipper is due to meet with the club’s lawyers today after refusing to participate in the tour of America.

And he is in no mood to back down in the fight to force his way back to France as a free agent.

Koscielny, 33, is fuming at what he considers to be a derisory contract offer from Arsenal which would effectively slash his salary by half.

He still has 12 months to run on his current £90,000-a-week deal and had hoped to extend his stay at the club he joined from Lorient back in 2010.

Talks about a new deal were held with the club before the end of the season but quickly broke down over personal terms.

And the Frenchman was stunned when he was told Arsenal were only prepared to pay him £45,000-a-week over the following two years with the chance to top up his salary based on appearances.

The injury-prone defender has taken that offer as a massive slap in the face because he knows he is not going to be able to play in every match.

ARSENAL have agreed a £23million transfer with St Etienne for defender William Saliba, reports say.

RMCsport claim a deal is done and due to the player's desire to join the Gunners, Stade Geoffroy-Guichard bosses were “forced” to take a smaller deal than they wanted.

The centre-back will sign a five-year deal and return back to France on loan with St Etienne.

THE word is out on Everton Soares joining Arsenal.

The Brazil striker's wife Isa Ranieri posted clips of him learning English – just as a doctor reportedly arrived in the Gremio star's country to give him a medical for the Gunners.

Arsenal are on the brink of sealing a £25million deal, plus £11m add-ons, despite Manchester United reputedly sending scouts to watch the 23-year-old help the home nation win the Copa America this month.

Premier League champions Man City have also been linked – causing some Etihad fans to speculate his English lessons suggested he is heading their way.

One claimed: He said 'blue', he’s coming to City” while another added: “Choose Manchester City NOT Arsenal.”

But a further tweet suggested Etihad chief Pep Guardiola has no need or desire to sign Everton: “They don’t want him and all their wingers are better than him.”

Everton has already revealed he might miss Gremio's Copa do Brasil quarter-final next Wednesday due to uncertainty over his future.

He said after Saturday's 2-1 top-flight win over Vasco da Gama: “I do not know. It's an unknown.

“Really. I do not know what can happen. As time goes by, things are tapering.

“I have a proposal. I cannot talk to the club.

“I do not guarantee that I will play against Bahia on Wednesday. We will see.”
