Wendy Williams: This Season Was 'Hell' But I'll Be Back

Wendy Williams has been in the headlines repeatedly over the last year. All the drama that she’s gone through made her fans question whether her show may be in trouble.

Was she able to keep everything on The Wendy Williams Show running smooth despite all the hardships and stress she’s been dealing with? Or has her show suffered from the consequences of the stress? Here’s what we know about the future of The Wendy Williams Show, and the future of Williams herself.

‘The Wendy Williams Show’ will be back for Season 11

Williams announced her eleventh season of The Wendy Williams Show with an emotional statement on the season finale.

She stood in front of her audience and said, “This season had been, well, hell for me, in a weird way.”

At this point Williams seemed to break down into tears, which she attempted to hold back. “I appreciate doing this show because it’s my one hour where I get to be fun and forget about stuff. You’ve seen me pass out this season, you’ve read in tabloids and the paparazzi and all that. But through it all, my one joy — aside from my son and my family — is you.”

Williams continued, “I’m not going to do this show forever, but I certainly will be back for season 11. A lot of people didn’t think we could do it, but we did it!”

The show is now on break for the summer, but will return on September 16.

Williams’ difficult year

The difficult year that Williams referred to started out with a health scare, where the talk show host fainted on stage. She blamed the spell on a tight costume and dehydration. However, later she admitted to living in a sober house for drug abuse issues.

While Williams took time away to deal with her issues, her husband Kevin Hunter, spent time with his mistress. The news reached Williams when his mistress became pregnant with Hunter’s child.

Her husband, in a desperate attempt to get Williams to forgive him, issued a public apology to her.

“I am not proud of my recent actions and take full accountability and apologize to my wife, my family and her amazing fans,” Hunter said in a statement to People. “I am going through a time of self-reflection and am trying to right some wrongs.”

Williams filed for divorce a short time later, along with kicking Hunter out of her mansion and firing him from her show, where he had been working as the executive producer.

Three months after filing for divorce, Williams was photographed holding hands with a 27-year-old convicted felon named Marc Tomblin. She also showed her boy toy off on Instagram.

In a since deleted post, William shared his picture along with the hashtags #oldenoughtobeyourmother, #verysexyman, and #mynewlife.

However, only a couple weeks later, Williams was quick to distance herself from Tomblin, making it clear that they were not a couple. Instead, she shared on her show that she’d been seeing a 50-year-old doctor that she was “crazy about.”

Williams told her audience, “27-year-old guys, quite frankly, find me attractive. I get it, but when it comes time for the comfort of a man, I need someone in his 50s too, and he’s gotta work. It helps that he’s a doctor He’s been married. His kids are in their 20s, and yes, he’s black. He’s brown-black.”

Despite the difficult year, Williams is now moving on with her life. She’s “off the market” with her new doctor man, and her show is still going strong. This next year should be a much better one for Williams than the last.
